One Mechanical Day was formed in 2005 from singer/guitarist and songwriter Phil Martino. Until then, Martino was known mostly from being in the rock band Pandora, and Autumn Ash. With brothers Matt (drummer) and Dan "heavy d" Labutis (bass) they formed what would be known as One Mechanical Day. Fans took it upon themselves to abriviate the name down to O.M.D. In 2007 they entered the studio to rec...ord, but before doing any more live shows they started looking for a second guitarist. Former member of Pandora and a good friend of Martinos, Oly Osbourn added the extra sound O.M.D. were looking for . With plans on going back into the studio after some radio interest and packed shows, Martino had been in different bands since the age of 15 he had decided to take a brief break in late 2007. During this time he kept his distance from Dan and Matt but continued to write on occasion with Oly. Eventually Oly had to leave due to conflicts arising from within the band. Coming back from the break in late 2007, the original 3 members continued playing live shows and promote. Unfortunatley things just were not the same. Soon after Phil, Dan, and Matt had gone their separate ways. Since then, Martino has done some solo work, mainly acoustic. Occasionally, he would do shows with other musicians. But he was never in to the idea of being a "solo act". Not knowing One Mechanical Day was not a band anymore, clubs would call and email him to book the band. Though, he would tell them "we are not a band anymore, but i can do acoustic". That allowed him to play songs that he had written that would not have meshed well with a bulk of other musicians. With no name to a solo act, Martino decided to just be known as Side Project. With some encouragement, Martino decided to put back together One Mechanical Day, but this time wanting a new bassist and drummer. Once the right people come in to play, plans for a full length album are in the works down the road.
