Mark grew up in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s when acts like The Allman Brothers, .38 Special, Alabama, and The Charlie Daniels Band were graying the lines between Rock and Country. The youngest of five children, Mark’s diverse musical influences began early. While his older siblings were listening to everything from James Taylor to Led Zeppelin, his mother was a proud and true country music fan. She passed her love for the country honky-tonk sounds of George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Charlie Pride and Merle Haggard on to Mark. He began singing and playing the guitar at a very early age and by his mid teens, he was performing with other musicians around the Indianapolis area. Mark developed his style throughout his teens and into his 20’s and, after relocating to the Cincinnati area, continued to play and enjoy the rock and country music that he’d grown up with. Americana rockers John Mellencamp, Tom Petty, and John Hiatt have remained a staple while country acts such as Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Toby Keith, and Kenny Chesney have been added to the long list of performers that Mark counts as his influences. Mark has surrounded himself with some of the region’s most talented musicians to form The Mark Hayden Band. The sweet vocal harmonies mixed with a gritty, upbeat country romp will keep the country girls (and guys) shaking it on the dance floor!
