Nekropolis / Bio

Nekropolis sound like the bastard-child of Obituary and Nile with crushing heavy riffs and absurd harmonies all woven into a storyline of lust, vengeance, exorcism, and an act of faithless denial.

The Vow of Vengeance, the 2nd album from the two-man termination force, Necropolis, is wrought with frantic, off-beat drumming, absurd tempo changes, and brutal vocals.

This album, yet another conceptual effort from the southern Illinois duo, explores several ideas on this 12-song opus. The story begins when a mother of two—recently rejected by a man she has lusted after—murders her children, tossing their body parts into the river. The woman, covered in her children’s blood, is rejected once again by the object of her desire. She returns to the river, only to feel the pain of guilt and sorrow at the loss of her children by her own hand. She commits suicide in grief and begins her transcendence into the netherworld.

And that’s just the first song of The Vow of Vengeance. For the rest of the story, you must buy this album. Loss of innocence, demon possession, a failed exorcism, and a priest losing touch with his God are just some of the intricate storylines woven into this fantastical concept.

Unholy is the Vow of Vengeance.
