It’s time to lace up your dancing shoes and get ready to celebrate: Alphabet Rockers are bringing their brand new theatrical hip-hop concert, “The Playground Zone” to the Freight! The band amplifies important messages with songs addressing diversity and the impact each of us has in shaping our world. With Rudy Trubitt, host of the Patchwork Series, opening. As culturally-responsive educators, internationally renowned hip hop theater creators, and beloved family performers, Alphabet Rockers builds audience and community through hip hop dance, pop grooves, beatboxing and interactive experiences. Described as “smart,” “imaginative,” “engaging,” and “fun,” this show will provide memories and melodies for your family to enjoy together. This performance is funded by a grant from the East Bay Community Foundation, the East Bay Fund for Artists, which funded Kaitlin McGaw & Tommy Shepherd to write and record the songs at the artist incubator Zoo Labs for the upcoming album release, "The Mixed Tape." Alphabet Rockers will have an EP available for purchase at this show.
