Sounds Like: We Came As Romans, Memphis May Fire
Bio: The idea for a band started in the summer of 2010, with Todd Tran, AJ Vanzeben, and Andrew Martinez. They started out playing songs anywhere from pop-punk to 80's hard rock. Ask Winters Iris anything...
Q: WHATS THE NAME ABOUT?
A: Pretty long story so here we go; Todd and I (Tyler) were derping around with random names and meanings of words and what not, and Todd said something like "How about something with a flower, that blooms out of season?.. like... Iris in the Winter?" And I responded with something along the lines of "Woah.. I like the concept, but it doesn't flow to well... how about Iris of Winter." We mass texted everyone the concept and Kyson was like "No, No, No, you guys suck.. its gotta be like smoooooth goin, like... Winters Iris." The next day a lady from "The Next Big Thing Tour" called Alex and asked if we wanted to play the show. When she asked for a band name, Alex was dumbfounded, he said the first thing that came to mind.. "Winters Iris". So, in all honesty it just kinda got forced upon us, and for a long while we wanted to change it, but we kept it, and we've learned to LOVE it. What do you think about it? (BTW, this is the true story, for sake of explaining I usually tell people the following reasons, all of which I found out AFTER the fact; Iris is the flower of realization, a becoming, if you will. Winter is the coldest and harshest season. Iris is a flower that blooms in late spring to mid summer. Winters Iris, is blooming out of place, in the hardest times, living up to our dreams, and our realizations)
