Nineteen Jazz Orchestra performs with guest artist Wally Schnalle on May 3rd at the Theater on San Pedro Square in San Jose. Show starts at 8pm.
If you missed our coastal CD release show several weeks ago here's another opportunity (by the way, thanks to all of you that attended and made it such a great day). It's our South Bay CD release concert. Joining me will be the A Team of Dann ZInn on sax, Jeff Massanari on guitar and Jason Muscat on bass. We will be performing music from our new CD "Out Of The Pan". Sharing the stage that night will be the wonderful Lee Pardini Trio featuring Lee Pardini on keyboards, Kevin Higuchi on drums, and Joe Costantini on bass. These guys put their own spin on a mix of original music and covers. And they're all great players. Dave Constantin of DRUM! Magazine says "Wally Schnalle fuses head and heart like few other musicians working today — making the abstract accessible, the complex communal, and delivering deep, soulful grooves with an effortlessness that belies their often fiercely technical foundations." Ken Dryden of allmusic.com says "The sax and guitar engage in a lively conversation in the intense "Out of the Pan" as Schnalle fuels the fire with his constantly shifting drumming. The infectious, somewhat funky "Nehru Guayabera" showcases Massanari's intricate playing, while the hip "Well Dressed Criminals" has an edgy vibe suggestive of John Scofield. The rockish "Front Burner" features Massanari's blistering solo and Zinn's wailing tenor, while the loping "Saturday Night Stilettos" has a definitive urban swagger. This is another enjoyable effort by Wally Schnalle." The Lee Pardini Trio featuring Lee Pardini on keyboards, Kevin Higuchi on drums, and Joe Costantini on bass. For their upcoming concert with Wally Schnalle at the Theater on San Pedro Square, the trio will be playing brand new original music from their upcoming debut release. This new project blends together all of the music that has inspired these musicians throughout their careers. From rock, jazz, RnB, to funk and even heavy metal, this trio has a truly unique and eclectic sound that showcases their versatility as well as their love for all styles of music. Lee Pardini received a degree in Jazz Piano from the Manhattan School of Music and between the three of them, they have toured all over the world in a variety of musical settings- playing arenas, festivals, clubs and even appearing on MTV. In addition to showcasing brand new original music, they will also delve into their catalog of covers and bring a fresh sound to songs by Chaka Khan, Prince, and even Kenny Loggins.
