Entry is free. The Mad Pride will be playing first at around 8pm. Following will be Hinterlandt and then Piers Twomey. Piers Twomey | Hinterlandt | The Mad Pride Yours & Owls, Wollongong Wednesday November 14, 2012 8pm til Midnight ARTIST INFORMATION Introspective songsmith Piers Twomey makes music which hovers somewhere between the stark minimalism of Grand Salvo, Bill Callahan and Kings of Convenience – and the cerebral/visceral guitar pop of Joe Pernice, Elvis Costello and the Lemonheads. His debut modern folk album 'Strange Advice' on Laughing Outlaw Records is soon to be followed by the electrified ‘Pop Kills’ EP. Work has begun on a second album of more experimental folk narratives. “Lovely new folk music” – Triple J; “Quietly charming songwriting” - Rolling Stone. www.pierstwomey.com Hinterlandt is a German-Australian solo act creating musical landscapes based on unusual sounds and complex arrangements. The live show involves trumpet, guitar, xylophone, loops, effects, and electronics. Thanks to frequent instrument changes and a rich sonic palette, the musical journey never gets boring. The brand new Hinterlandt album ‘Cartography’ is out now on Laughing Outlaw Records. www.hinterlandt.net Combining 60s psychedelia, folk noir, art rock, neoclassical and gothic post-punk, The Mad Pride has been described as haunting and ominous like Syd Barrett and David Bowie collaborating on a Tim Burton film soundtrack. Comparisons are often made to Radiohead, Grizzly Bear, Erik Satie, Opeth, Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen. It is the solo recording project of singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Rowan Galagher. http://themadpride.bandcamp.com/ The facebook event page can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/events/463698863680840/

This is really trippy, haunting stuff. I would probably have played the grooves off the record in college. As it is, it hopefully will be on my iPod soon.
