The Ladderbacks / Press

“If these guys look familiar it could be because all four members of The Ladderbacks are returnees to the Repository’s Battle of the Bands. Last year, rhythm guitarist Tristan Sedlak competed with White Sky Outcast, and drummer Josh Pietzcker and bassist Luke Miller were in Less Than Three. Vocalist-guitarist Jason Shaffner was in the 2011 battle with a band called Motion. Shaffner looks forward to returning to the Palace Theatre stage. “I want to be rockin’ out with my buddies.” It was for another band battle, the one at Hoover High School, that The Ladderbacks came together.. Sadly, a dark cloud seemed to hang over the band’s debut show. “I broke my finger the day before,” bassist Luke Miller recalls. “I had a really bad cold,” lead guitarist Jason Shaffner says. “On my way to the battle, I fell and twisted my ankle pretty bad,” drummer Josh Pietzcker says. Nonetheless, “We did surprisingly well actually,” Shaffner says. “We got two 9s and a 10.””
