Shunning the worn-out formula of endless classic rock tune retreads and bland interpretations of "the hits", The Blaggards are instead known best for their live interpretations of the songwriting talents of artists such as Alejandro Escovedo, Lucinda Williams, Rockpile, Ry Cooder, Buddy Miller, Son Volt, Long Ryders, Slaid Cleaves, Drifters, Vulgar Boatmen, Waco Brothers, Bottle Rockets, Johnny Horton, Bob Dylan, T-Bone Burnette, Jayhawks, Beat Farmers, Dwight Yoakum, Robbie Fulks, Patty Smith, Old 97's, Los Lobos, Neil Young, The La's, John Hiatt, Springsteen, Sam Cooke, Chris Stamey, Duane Jarvis, NRBQ, Delbert McClinton . . . The Blaggards self-produced recording of Ray Davies' "Last of the Steam Powered Trains" on the upcoming Paradiddle Records release "Kinks Unkovered" bodes well for future projects, perhaps even belying some original material efforts on the horizon.
