This benefit was created from a collaborative effort of many who love Colin Brown and his family. He was a loving father of two small children, a husband, a brother, a musician and friend. Recently Colin was not feeling well and went to the hospital with what seemed like flu-like symptoms. As we started a blog to track his medical progress, Colin was in the ICU with what the doctors were calling a “mysterious” progressive lung infection. We now mourn the loss of a great soul. Now with this tremendous loss, the funds donated from this benefit will be directed to the children's funds.
A little information about Colin. He was a father, husband and brother. He was a musician. He was a friend to many in the New Orleans area and beyond. He worked for Emeril's after Katrinia. Through his many years as a bartender/manager, he touched so many lives by just being Colin. He loved his family and he loved his city! Pre-Katrina, he ran Nick’s Big Train Bar in mid-city and was in the local band, Motorway. Although Nick’s bar and the band did not survive Katrina, he believed in New Orleans and was one of the first residents back in the city. He helped many people transition back to the city that he loves and calls home. He has always been a friend to everyone. If you needed anything, he would be there for you.
This benefit, "A Night of Care for Colin" will be healing experience for everyone and a way to pay tribute again to Colin Brown through music!
