Covers for Cover V: Schubas Tavern, 3159 N. Southport Ave, Chicago, IL is pleased to announce the return of “Covers For Cover” on Saturday, December 14 at 7PM. Tickets are available for $12 in advance at www.Schubas.com, or $15 at the door. In this season of giving thanks, local female musicians give back to the Chicago community by rocking out at “Covers to Cover V". After years of performing original music shows, these musicians pay homage to their favorite rock, new wave, singer songwriter and punk bands to benefit Institute of Women Today. Many of these groups are created just for this benefit. Bands being covered this year include AC/DC, The Cure, Peter Gabriel, Heart, New Order, Cher, and The Pretenders. This fun benefit is emceed by Rattina, the joke telling, teenage female rat puppet from the cult favorite TV music show, “Chic-A-Go-Go”. The Institute of Women Today provides transitional housing and mentoring for homeless women and their children through experiences that empower, support and transform women and the broader community. This is the seventh anniversary of the Covers for Cover series. The music benefit series has raised over $7,000 for local women's homeless shelters, including Deborah’s Place, Sarah's Circle, Connections for Abused Women and their Children, and the Primo Center.
