This bio was originally written for Sam and Yuri's previous band: Cold Water Armies. Instead of rewriting it, we're just going to let it show you where we came from. Needless to say, Yuri and Sam are all that remain of Cold Water Armies.
Cold Water Armies aims for a sound that is anthemic, novel, and often said, "epic." Their music is derived from the inspirations, fears, ambitions, and philosophies of songwriters Sam Chase (guitar/vocals) and Yuri Trusty (keyboard/vocals), along with the solidifying assistance of Parker Harris (percussion) and Romie Ouelette (bass). Collecting influence and inspiration from everyone and everything around them, CWA hopes produces something that is unique, relative, and coherent in its lyrical nature and something that is catchy and easy-to-listen to, yet able to be appreciated for its subtle complexities. As for references to musicians that influence them, they listen to bands like Brand New, Dashboard Confessional, and Death Cab For Cutie, but it's not their place to compare themselves. You be the judge. Bio: Cold Water Armies is comprised of four high school seniors out of the obscure, and almost anonymous Bangor, Maine. They've only officially been a band since late 2006, but they've been recreationally jamming and writing music together ever since meeting their freshman year at Bangor High. The evolution didn't really begin until songwriters Sam Chase (guitar/vocals) and Yuri Trusty (keyboard/vocals), unable to overlook they're seemingly innate creative chemistry any longer, finally decided to merge and form CWA as a two-piece, acoustic project. As they rapidly grew and developed in style, sound, and fan base Sam and Yuri soon became unsettled with the limited diversity of sound they could produce with an acoustic setup and craved something more multifarious and full. They agreed to expand their sound and looked to good friends and longtime jamming partners, Parker Harris (percussion) and Romie Ouelette (bass). Considering the compatibility and experience that the four had already cultured over years of recreational jamming, it was no chore integrating Parker and Romie into the mix. And in addition to the room which the additional components provided for originality and variation in sound, they're individually stylistic sound and character officially distinguished Cold Water Armies from the rest. As for now, Cold Water Armies are cultivating their sound; practicing, writing, making amateur recordings here and there, and playing local shows. Soon they will be recording an EP or full length LP, depending on finances, and then will promote and sell it to their fans or those interested. Then they will be taking a year off in between high school graduation and college to follow dreams of becoming "nomadic minstrels" so to speak, temporarily living in various places all over the country (at least), touring with a press kit in hand, playing shows and distributing their music.
