“The London-based, Italian singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Roberta De Francia, is an innovative musician that melds classical, acoustic, jazz, alternative, and avant-garde musical styles into a loving concoction of blended melodies. The sometimes quirky compositions are theatrical and a little funky...”

“Roberta De Francia’s slightly jazzy, folksy, bluesy, quirky, and gritty selection of songs is seemingly indescribable...The sometimes quirky compositions are theatrical and a little funky ..Her mix of instrumentation and vocals created a sound unlike anything previously released from any similar artists...the album should be applauded for incorporating different styles and instrument arrangements...Matthew Forss”

Matthew Forss, "M-East-Ery Park" Album Review
“Dark Light Dance” opens with raw percussion and a brisk, acoustic guitar introduction with a few slaps of conga-like drums. Roberta’s voice is poetic, varied,
The music is abrupt and musically-complex with fluttering, echoing, and clattering of sounds mish-mashed together. The result is not particularly off-putting, because the music is quite enthralling. The melodies are not very smooth, due to the forced vocals that resemble beat poetry more than anything. However, the few horn squeaks and slapping drum beats and tambourines at the end of the song signify a highly-textured track.”

“Pitch Patch” opens with a little acoustic guitar ditty, slapped congas, and edgy sax with Roberta’s bluesy vocals that are raspy and earthy. The scintillating guitar strings signify a slightly bluegrass, blues, and old-time ambiance. However, Roberta’s characteristic, punchy guitar playing is evident. Roberta even includes some scat vocals throughout. The song characteristics are a little different than other songs, but the same punchy guitar arrangements and somewhat forced vocals are evident. The bass and tambourine signal a short instrumental segment that bleeds into one more chorus.”

Matthew Forss, "M-East-Ery Park" Album Review
“April’s Smile” begins with a jaunty, jazz tune with acoustic guitar, blurby bass, and Roberta’s child-like vocal energies. The swirling melody is more like a pop standard that is more structured than other tracks on the album. The sax makes more of an appearance on this song than others, which adds to the jazz infusions and instrumental interplay...

“Overall, Roberta De Francia and Band bring forth a collection of some of the most creative and warm songs available in the singer-songwriter genre. Oftentimes under appreciated, bands like this wind up having long careers and are fortunate that they are able to avoid the allure and trappings of commercial music. I believe we'll be hearing a lot of music from Roberta DeFrancia, therefore I recommend that everyone who reads this review... ”
