JW Wind runs a terrific open mic night! Sign-up is around 7:00 and the open mic show begins at 7:30 PM. JW is a man who truly loves music, and provides a great atmosphere for the performers to work their magic. He's also a tremendous photographer, and takes great pics of all the performers. He posts them weekly in Facebook, so all performers get some free press after a day or two! Midway through the open mic, usually between 8:30 and 9:00, Rick Gordon does a solo act, often inviting and performing with with special guests who have included, Danny Everitt, Ken Gaines, Brian Kalinec, Susan Martin, Mike Roberts and many others. After Rick's show, the open mic continues. The admission is free, as is the convenient parking. Come on down - enjoy the beautiful view of downtown and hear some of Houston's finest singer/songwriters and musicians!
