Q: How old were you when you had your first spark of wanting to write songs?

A: I loved English as a subject in school and I started writing a book at age 9, but when my Dad died, in frustration and grief, I tore it up. About middle school I started writing poetry but it wasn't until high school that I joined my first band as lead singer, I wrote some early songs at that point, about age 16. . and right from the beginning of my public career which started during my during college days, I wrote and performed my own original songs alongside well known songs written by people I admired. the spark I think was from my love of literature and being amazed at how some musical artists could really achieve that balance between a good story and a good tune, there is something magical about music.
