“I wanted to start covering some local bands, out of my own area, so I put a call out on Twitter. I got some responses and so I started a list of bands to investigate and give a little shout out to. The first band that answered the call hails from North Carolina. They are called Linus Jones and are about to release their first album called “40 Licks To The Center” on November 15, 2012. The band describes themselves as “Purveyors of rockin’ blues & elektrified soul.” They are certainly a blend of soul, blues and rock and roll. The four piece band features a power trio, with singer/songwriter and harp player Danie Jones out front. I am looking forward to the new album because I have only heard demos. The demos certainly have some catchy stuff both in the melodies and the grooves.”
"I had a blast talking to Triad band Linus Jones, a four piece fusion band specializing in a mix of original blues, funk, and rock today on Carolina Music Storm. We talked about their music and they sang a song live in the studio. I appreciated their insight about the proposed Greensboro city noise ordinance and the petition at Change.org. Thanks to Kevin McElroy, "the other Kevin" (Pearson) who helped me with my mouse on my laptop, Keith Taylor and Danie Jones for coming in."
“Linus Jones? - Never heard of her!”
“Sounds great......good project!”
“Linus Jones embraces a musical world that spans genres as diverse as Acid Jazz, Blues, and Heavy Rock. They drift from genre to genre telling the story of not only a diverse musical world, but the world we live in. Without being whiney or pretentious they convey honest stories about life. Their stories will resonate an emotional chord with more mature music fans. Their musical machinations will also intrigue those that enjoy honest music made without the Hollywood hype and production that accompanies most releases these days. ”
"Fourscore and seven minutes ago, Linus Jones brought forth a desire to rock the nation!"
“Four piece blues & soul rockers Linus Jones are bringing their fusion fueled sound into the recording studio. A well kept secret no more, following well received recent performances at central North Carolina venues. Sessions beginning this week at New Horizon Studios under the supervision of producer/engineer Mitch Hensdale. Mitch of course is well known as a musician in his own right through his work with bands like Legacy and The Attractions.”
