Get the dirt without getting dirty at http://www.erickmacek.com/blogs for all my latest blog posts. I no longer post here.
So, i'm wondering why some of us even go to college… i guess the spring break posters and girls-gone-wild adds help, but when it comes down to it. We go to school to learn. Learn to be part of a new generation of society, which in essence is a a job that we are supposed to be passionate about.
Well, after reading this last entry, i'm wondering i love these awful paying jobs! (haha) Here is a link to the 20 worst paying college degrees in 2010
i am #18 and #19. Now, i've had many conversation about this and it seems that a lot of people aren't even in that bracket financially. I know it really depends on where you are geographically, or how good you are, or even better…who you know, but in all honesty, i was thoroughly disappointed that jobs that help the future, make things look pretty, create something that makes us cry, laugh and break things are not so good paying jobs.
i guess if you really want to make money in society, you better know your math. And even if you know your math, you should probably sharpen up your math skills, because the 20 highest paying jobs are all about numbers.
i wanted to share a behind the scenes look at some of my own personal video from the 2008 East Coast Tour!

So, i finally finished the P90X workout plan! I didn't realize it was such a big craze and that so many people are doing it…
i started this plan for merely personal reasons. I wasn't trying to lose weight. I wasn't trying to get a beach body in time for summer and it really wasn't a new years' resolution. I honestly, wanted to challenge myself, get back into shape, but i always found a way to manipulate myself OUT of a consistent regimen. I was too tired, i worked out 2 days ago, i'll be naturally active this weekend, i'll start next week…Any of these sound familiar?
I pretty much can't stick to a solid workout plan for more than 2 months before i burn out. I decided to give this P90X a try because everyone always talks about how hard it is, and needless to say, i love a challenge.
i got the workout bundle and was ready to begin this plan. The first week was grueling! yet satisfying. It was intense, it was new, it was hard and my mentality was intrigued. I slept like a rock for that entire week because i was so sore! However, the diet… Within the 1st week, i spend apprx $100 to try on top of cooking every day. I wasn’t having it and so I used a little common sense and basic food knowledge.
i fell off the diet plan quickly, just because i can't really afford filet mignon until i win at least 1 grammy, haha. Plus, the mere fact of cooking spends so much extra time on top of working out. I began eating practically incorporating cheaper fish into my meals. Tuna, Halibut, and others based on sale prices, etc. Honestly, i based most of my diet on sale prices and just got into the mentality of telling myself that the food is just an energy and rebuilding source.
i think a lot of us enjoy food throughly, as i do, but my vices were things like ranch, quick foods like pizza, chips and fast food on tour. I think sometimes taking that love is actually a great thing. i starting eating meat with a baked potato with NOTHING on it. And fish with brown rice with NOTHING on it. Not even salt. The P90X didn't starve me. There was plenty of food to eat, so that wasn't the issue. i just found it hard to find the time, money and energy to stick exactly to the plan.
The workouts took 6 days a week of my life for at least 1 hour a day. Most workouts included an hour workout with a concentration of abs (another 16 minutes) after an intense workout. But i LOVE the basics of the plan as it does trick your body to show results. I loved the fact of shutting my brain off and hitting play and just doing what i saw on the screen. Plain and simple workouts.
Now, i did have to take breaks due to traveling, touring and personal matters, but life is life. I give a large amount of credit to those who can balance a healthy lifestyle, have a family, have a job, career, hobbies on the side and find time to cook and work out.
P90X gets a huge kudos from me. I'm not even telling you to get it. I just think finding your motivating factor to a healthy lifestyle is important. I noticed myself a LOT stronger as i still played sports during my workouts. I felt in shape, less winded, and just physically stronger.
I can go on and on about this program. The bottom line through my experiences… Does it work? yes! is it hard? pretty much, yes. how long is it? 3 months will i lose weight? for most part yes. quick breakdown. 1st month = 1,800 calorie diet 2nd month = 2,400 calories/day 3rd month = 3,000 calories/day will i be hungry? i don't think so. You do have to be discipline.
Hope this helps out if anyone has been interested in it, or has done it. I'm not a professional critic and i'm not promoting anything, so i thought this sort of a blog and a break in the music talk would be nice.
i'd like to hear your thoughts on any workouts of the P90X itself…

i'm dusting off this "Blog" section of my life (if that can even be said in the digital world) and re-opening this thing called "blog". Unlike twitter and such, i don't really want to tell you that i'm eating a ham sandwich and telling you how much i hate traffic (even though, that one may cross my mind)
I'm not exactly sure where these blogs will take us, but i love deep thought, inspiring conversation and tend to challenge myself on many levels as my mind always races with thought. i know i already have the "thoughts of the day," but i'd like to push the envelope a little further on my blogs.
just wanted to let you know that i'll be posting a lot more post here periodically. so i hope you'll stay in touch!
