I've been writing music for the rock band Brushwood for a number of years now. Issues stemming from political to environmental, to spiritual inspection and reflection. And of course a ballad or two about Love and caring. I'm always working hard to put the honesty and truthfulness in the music, lyrics and/or message. A lot of you really connect with the music and some have even expressed the fact that it has changed their days for the better. That alone is a service rendered in my opinion. Goes beyond any downloads or album sales. That's why I've enabled free streaming of the music since day one almost over eight years ago. And if it connects with you, you can download the song for a buck. When I first started out playing music thirty years ago, I felt the energy and the thrill of playing as I forged an identity. I was heavily into poetry and incorporated my talents within the music. Being an artist, painting and sketching, has a degree of escapism. Like meditation. And music does this as well. It wasn't until years later did I come to realize that when I met the right people to join a band, it would take a different path in creation. I played with many people in different projects and it took a couple years to find the right people. Players who believed in the same vision and felt what the music was saying to them. We try to get together as much as possible to play shows and record. But it's only on occasion with everyone being so busy with life and day gigs. We don't make money like The Rolling Stones but we enjoy piecing together and creating the music. If we had more time we would be putting out more music. But such is the state of today's music industry and Brushwood isn't the only band. I would adore to hear some feedback from you all wonderful people on our music and other issues discussed here. It's your opinions that matter the most. If you would like to hear more of a certain style that I write then please feel free to comment. Your words and ideas are so important on any subject. The band just recently released a new song online called Beside You. http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_14699395 One of a collection of songs we'll be releasing in the coming months. Please feel free to drop us a line at brushwood.ca or firstname.lastname@example.org
Jim Richardson and the band are back at it finishing up some new songs. No release date as of yet. It's been awhile for a release by the band, but we can reassure you it's well worth the wait. Sounding fantastic and typically different. You can follow us on facebook to stay up to date on current events as well. http://www.facebook.com/brushwoodmusic
