Random for the Weird at Heart

Behind the song (Every Day in America) "call us haters each time we disagree; call us racists, that argument is weak; call us homophobe creationists, liars to our face; we might not like to hear it, but everybody has their say...everyday in America" -in an effort to kill two birds with one stone, while mowing grass one day I wrote the words to this song. Chris Sanders co-wrote the music with me. I believe we have something unique in America with freedom of expression. However, I believe it pales in comparison to the freedom found only in Christ. I'm free...no matter which way the social, economical or political winds may blow...free in Christ!

The past takes many prisoners; tomorrow borrows dreams; patiently the moment waits between the two extremes; few seldom see the moment, it often goes to waste; but those who’ve stumbled on it know there is no better place.

Hearing lacking listen sounds so deafening. Looking lacking seeing is simply sight unseen. Thinking void of thoughtfulness is such a dismal notion. Getting without giving back is selfishness in motion. Brokenness can’t fix itself, the fixer has the fixes. Seek the fixer, find the peace, who too few knew existed.

Easy find, hard to get, simple truth, better yet; newer suit, whiter gown, better view, higher ground; living large, weighing less, off the chart, treasure chest; endless good, master plan, cross of wood, punctured hand; richer blood, thorny crown, greater love, beaten down; quiet tomb, guarded grave, rolling stone… flawless save.

Wisdom for the Weird at Heart

Blind is the eye; deaf is the ear; dense is the cry; dry is the tear; brave was the home; free was the land; just was the cause; clean was the hand; sin keeps the cancer; truth holds the key; seek finds the answer; found finds the knees. (check out the old testament passage 2 Chronicles 7:14)

Must a soul stop rhyming when a heart’s not in the mood? Why do few go climbing high above their point of view? Why does faith keep leading all the faithful to the ledge? When will letting go and letting God be cutting edge? Why cover up the answer each time the question’s raised? Why erect a roadblock when honest trails get blazed? Where are all the dreamers now that schemers rule the throne? When will I succeed to fail to make this world my home?

The world is full of dreamers; they fill the world with dreams; I’m surrounded by believers in extraordinary things; some can paint a picture; some can sing a song; some are true forgivers who write off every wrong; some work hard to gather funds and food to feed the poor; some seek out the hopeless who are otherwise ignored; dreams appearing small are often bigger than they seem; God can only measure the treasure of such dreams; hats off to all the dreamers who build their dreams on faith; Those who want to change the world with every dream they chase. -Wise Dreamers know….“with God, all things are Possible” Matthew 19:26

Hope against all odds; peace at any price; fact over facade; passion over pride; tipping of the scales; shoulders free of weight; runners seize the finish; losers win the race; seeing inside out; vision finds the blind; looking upside down; life lives…for those who die.

Water into wine, numbness into feeling; jagged into fine, hurt into healing; frailty into strength, tough into tender; winter into spring, ruin into splendor; trials into gold, coal into diamonds; timid into bold, defeat into triumph; the stuff of God is worth...getting into!

No time to waste; miles to burn; dreams to chase; skills to learn; hectic life; rocky road; thin disguise; heavy load; undercooked; never done; overbooked; setting sun; weary eyes; comfy bed; foolish pride; sleepy head…morning comes quick; take time for a heavenly breakfast; enjoy new mercies; served fresh daily; new beginnings; brewed to the peak of perfection; straight from the throne of God…the biggest and best meal of the day.
