2013 so far

Welcome to my first Reverbnation blog. This is just a wee update on my musical endeavours in 2013 so far. On the recording front, a new Red Hot Chilli Pipers album entitled "Breathe" is just about to be released. Everyone involved in the project is really excited and is by far the most accomplished Chillis recording. My duo partner Fiona Cuthill was involved with me in the recording of the new Abel Ganz album which is due for release late in 2013. Always a challenging project working with these guys but great fun and keeps alive my prog rock fantasies. Fiona and myself will be starting our second album this year as a follow up to our debut release "A Cruel Kindness". Also had a couple of great studio sessions with my good friends from Ranza Music for some library music projects. Rallion continues to move on with UK dates and a trip to the Netherlands in August. Have been really enjoying working with Raintown since last year and this year follows on from last years success with UK festival dates. The next one being the Americana festival in Newark. Fiona will be joining us on fiddle for that gig too. Raintown have also received two nominations for this years British Country Music Awards. They are up for Duo of the Year and Horizon Act of the Year. All excited for that one in November. Mid June saw a trip to Ontario, Canada with Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band. My involvement with them started last year with a concert, "Forte", performed at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. I was invited along with Marrisa Waite and Douglas Millar to provide additional instrumentation on some of their sets. The concert was a great success and was also released as a CD/DVD earlier this year. We were approached by the committee of the Cobourg Highland Games to perform the concert as part of their 50th Anniversary. It was great to get the chance to do the show again as these events tend to be very much a one - off. Myself and Fiona are of the the beautiful island of Colonsay for our first duo headline gig for a wee while in July. On the Chilli Pipers front we had a great visit to Denmark for a couple of shows and we are looking forward to a headline appaerance at theis years Heb Celt Festival. We're also delighted to be performing at Proms in the Park in Hyde Park in September. There will also be Scottish dates later in the year to promote "Breathe". I'll leave it there and update later in the summer. All the best and thanks for taking the time to read the blog and check out my page. Cheers Stevie
