Hi To celebrate our first show with our new lead guitar player Fuzzy Carter, (not his real name, we use alias to keep the governments of Zimbabwe and Vanuatu from tracking him down, as well as some girl named Billy Jean who says he is the one, but the kid is not his son.) We are releasing a track we recorded for the album, but it didn't make the cut. So here it is as as a free download. We present to you "Friends". https://soundcloud.com/soul-of-the-river/friends-soul-of-the-river It is also the 3rd song down on our reverbnation page http://www.reverbnation.com/souloftheriver We are also playing a free all ages show for the American Cancer Society tomorrow (Sat Apr 8, 2013) at 1:00pm April 8, 2013 1 pm all ages free Soul of the River, Fuzzy Carter's debut show! American Cancer Society Relay for Life La Sierra Hillcrest High School 11800 Indiana Ave Riverside, CA 92503 P.S. Hi, We have a production company that has volunteered to make us a video for Rider. These people all work on videos for major rock stars, Maroon 5, John Mayer etc. However the video will have some costs just to make, and they don’t want to have to pay for it out of their own pockets, and the band is broke.
Throughout the years, we have given out tons of free cd samplers, free downloads, countless free charity shows, and since we started asking for help on this video 2 months ago we have raised a total of $45. That’s it....three people.
This is heartbreaking.
If you donate $15 towards our video we’ll mail you a signed copy of the album. For $50 we’ll mail you an album, posters stickers a DVD, basically all the swag we have. For $100 we’ll write and record a custom song for you, whatever you want, a jingle, a song for your girlfriend, a song making fun of your best friend, whatever.
It’s hard for us to ask for help. Please donate, we’re not making any money off this deal, actually we’ll be giving the CD’s and merch away for free, and I’m paying for the postage myself. The album is great, you’ll love it. We don’t need to raise a huge sum of money, just enough to cover the costs so we can have a cool professional video. Here is the link:
Thanks for your support, Soul of the River
We wanted to let you know that we are playing a show this Saturday at Bob's Boogie Barn in Riverside. This guy has a barn, where he set up a stage and sound system, and had bands play every weekend. We have been wanting to play here for a long time. It is bring your own beer, and we have also been told to bring a chair. We are playing with Borrowed Bones and MT Robson and the Messengers. It'll be a rad show. Saturday December 1, 2012 Soul of the River 11:30 Borrowed Bones 10:15 Mt Robson and the Messengers 9pm All Ages $5 cover Bob's Boogie Barn 5415 Mountain View Avenue Riverside CA 92504
We’ve been keeping quiet about this, but a production company comprised of people that make videos for famous rock stars (Bon Jovi, John Mayer, Blink 182 you name it) have volunteered to make us a video for Rider. They are going to do it for free, however there are always costs to make a video of this caliber, so we have set up a gofundme account, with all kinds of thank you gifts including a custom song just for you, to help divert some of the inevitable costs.
To celebrate, we have also set up "Rider" as a free download this week only. Thank you for your support, Soul of the River
Throw that bowl of cereal across the room, you better clear the table 'cause it's 'bout to get funky in here! Here's a video of a performance of a new song not on the album, "Popcorn" This jam's so funky the bass will slap you outta your chair, and knock your mustache clear uptown. Put on some headphones, computer speakers will not cut it. You need to hear the funky bass that will make Skrillex go back to school and hold him back four grades. If you have a cool name for this song, let us know, we just called it "Popcorn" because we had to call it something. Here it is: http://youtu.be/vkZerG1IKZM We also had a great review of the album on Improvization Nation Magazine here: http://rotcodzzaj.com/wordpress/?page_id=3421 Steve broke his thumb, so we won't be playing any shows for a while, however he has been playing keyboards at rehearsal and we are coming up with tons of great new songs! Also Facebook is making us pay to promote our posts if we want more than 10% of you to see them. In order for all of our fans to see one facebook post, it would cost us $70. In order to stay in touch with us you need to: 1) Go to our page. 2) Hover your mouse over where it says "Liked" and click on "Add to Interests Lists" Then you will see all of our posts on your wall. Thanks for digging our tunes, Soul of the River
Sunday we are playing the Ramona Mainstage, an awesome place. What we really need, is a picture from stage, but with you there screaming at us. Not angry bottle throwing screaming though, save that for Justin Biber, nice screaming more like how you would scream if you were at a Menudo concert (Don't try to lie, we've seen your CD collection). It's all ages and the proceeds go to homeless teens. We're focusing on recording, not playing shows, so this is one of the rare few shows we'll play, so don't miss it. We realize most of you all live nowhere near Southern California and won't be able to catch a show, so we've decided to focus more on recording and videos than shows. We feel like you guys are missing out, so we plan on recording 30-40 songs a year, putting the best 10 on an album, and giving out the rest as free downloads. We were featured in this month's Riverside Magazine and we are stoked! The article is about halfway down (pages 34 qnd 35), you can read it online here. http://www.riversidethemag.com/issues/pdfs/0512_riv_mag.pdf We made a 30 second jingle for the Philler podcast. If you want it, it is available as a free download here: http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_12480131?eid=A329232_12020094_19954665_lnk1003
The Philler is a Phish related podcast, that they plan on doing a Soul of the River special down the road. http://www.mixcloud.com/robertchampion/the-philler-episode-eight-msg-2011-part-two/ Also we've gotten some airplay on Sirus/XM radio as the opener for the Shades of K show, and it looks like we'll be on again April 20 at Midnight (Eastern) (9pm pacific) If you dig Phish, check out the Philler Podcast. Thanks for your support, Soul of the River
