MADELEINE PEYROUX WORKS WITH NATIONAL COALITION AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

MADELEINE PEYROUX WORKS WITH NATIONAL COALITION AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TO RAISE MONEY, AWARENESS ON 2009 SPRING TOUR

When Madeleine Peyroux heads out on her headlining 2009 Spring tour, it won’t just be music she’ll be bringing to each city. Working with the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Peyroux will donate $1 from each ticket sold to a local charity through the NCADV. This is not the first time Peyroux has raised money while out on tour, having done similar fundraisers on her past 5 North American tours.

Peyroux, who the New York Times says “has a Mona Lisa voice and a personality to match...you can read whatever emotions you want in her sly, enigmatic interpretations,” will begin the month long tour March 6 in Albany, NY in support of her new album ‘Bare Bones,’ out March 10 on Rounder Records. Peyroux (vocals and guitar), will be joined on tour by Jon Herington (guitar), Larry Goldings (keyboards), Barak Mori (bass) and Darren Beckett (drums).

With ‘Bare Bones’ Peyroux dives into songwriting with the same emotion she has given others’ songs in the past. She had a hand in writing all 11 tracks on the album, creating a deeply personal piece of work that gives listeners a window into her fascinating life story -- moving from the US to Paris with her mother as a child, dropping out of high school to busk on the streets, and rising up to critical acclaim and commercial success.

MADELEINE PEYROUX’S SALTY NEW SINGLE “YOU CAN’T DO ME”

MADELEINE PEYROUX’S SALTY NEW SINGLE “YOU CAN’T DO ME”

Burlington, MA – On “You Can’t Do Me,” the salty single from her new album Bare Bones written with Steely Dan’s Walter Becker and producer Larry Klein, Madeleine Peyroux declares that “you can’t do me, like you did before.” Anchored by jumping piano and a backbeat that inspires motion, she explains what will happen:

“You know I get so blue and I go Down like a deep sea diver, out like a Coltrane tenor-man, Lost like a Chinese war baby - gone, gone, gone! Blewed like a Mississippi sharecropper, screwed like a high-school cheerleader, Tattooed like a popeyed sailorman - gone, gone, gone!”
