Hi guys and gals, QSG have been rather busy of late averaging a couple of gig per week and spreading themselves farther afield in the process. Our last live venture was in the rising sun arts centre in Reading which was a long drive but well worth the effort. We topped a very good bill indeed and made some new friends along the way. Thanks to Mark Worm for inviting us to play purely on the basis of our reverb nation page too!!! We particularly enjoyed Will Varley there. Check out his fantastic lyrical style at his website. Well worth a look. http://www.willvarley.com/
We are having a quieter month in March and are concentrating on writing new material and recording tracks for the next album which is around half complete now. Next gig is the grey lady in tunbridge wells on april 1st so pop down and enjoy the show.
Hi guys and gals, we just agreed to do a little musical shindig at a great local boozer in groombridge, Kent. The Junction is a fantastic pub with a groovy and friendly atmosphere and proper local ( brewed within a mile or so) real ales. We shall be playing on thursday 16th february from around 8:30 so come and join us and join in the fun. We're hoping our friend Will will bring his new keyboard along so he can jam along with us. I suppose I best send him some songs to work out before then too!
We have our debut gig at the grey lady tonight too which is gonna be a cracker so if you're free pop along. One not to be missed we hope. We're all rather excited to be playing there tonight and hopefully loads ofour friends will be there to make it a special performance. We're also in the final negotiations for playing as headline act in a musical evening in Reading. More details when pen has been put to paper metaphorically speaking. Life's good in the world of QSG xxx
Hi guys and gals, qsg are looking forward to a month of fun in february. We are always writing and recording which keeps us vaguely sane and sometimes even sensible but we also love a good live musical romp given half a chance! As we have already posted on here we are playing our debut at The Grey Lady Music Lounge in the historic Pantiles on sunday 12th february which will be amazing. Its an early start (19:45) so get there early if you are coming to see us. Then we're playing a valentines day gig at a rather interesting venue...The Bengali Village in Lingfield ( http://www.thebengalvillage.co.uk/ )!! Never ones to turn down something new we jumped at the chance to play our first gig in an indian restaurant. Ralph particularly has warmed to the idea and has been constantly sending me indian food puns based around song titles ever since the gig came up. My personal favourites of which are "you can't curry love" and "papadom preach". Most of the others were naan too clever though! If only I had a sitar as I think that taken an authentic indian instrument could really curry favour with our gracious hosts. Anyhow, if you fancy a romantic evening of spicy food and a saucy couple of dudes entertaining you with songs and no doubt a few new curry based puns then bring your loved one and we'll serenade them for ya. We're all really pleased to have finally got around to booking QSG at the grey lady in tunbridge wells. This is a fine venue and we're very excited to be playing there. If you haven't been there before them come down and join us. Its a real treat and the sound is always excellent, as is the ambience. All in all its a perfect place to spend an evening being entertained by a variety of musical acts whilst enjoying a laid back atmosphere, a few drinks or even some rather nice food. We hope to make this a pretty regular venue for us so please support us and the other acts by coming along on a sunday night to delay that monday morning feeling as long as possible. We've also been busy bees in the studio whilst Andy has been away on business and have 6 new songs towards our next album well under way. Its all sounding fantastic and exciting which is how new material should feel. We've already put "belladonna days" up for exclusive download on our reverbnation page so if you haven't checked it out yet please do so. Much more up beat stuff has been coming out of late so the album should have something for all tastes we hope qsg xxx
Hi all, in the last few days we've been busy recording new stuff, updating various blogs and adding exclusive downloads to our reverb nation site and generally having fun writing new material. We're also chasing down new and exciting venues to perform and have a few gigs in the pipeline. When we confirm dates we'll start pestering all and sundry to pop along and join us for music and the odd pint. It'll be really nice to branch out into the tunbridge wells area although a return gig at CJ's in East Grinstead does also appeal. We always like playing there as its got a great atmosphere and Stowford Press on draught!! We're pretty sure the cider helps the atmosphere to some extent! Hope you're all in fine fettle and enjoying the crisp bright winter weather of late and we hope to see you soon in the flesh! QSG xxx
Have just organised a meeting early next week to discuss us gentlemen playing a live set at the grey lady in the pantiles , Tunbridge Wells. This is a smashing venue and were very excited about it. Watch this space to see confirmed date when it happens and please come along and see us. On another note had a band social and also caught up with our mate Skinny. Got down to some late night recording of some acoustic stuff Skinny's been working on. Top fun so may have to have a tweak and see what butterfly emerges!!! qsg xxx
After 5 weeks of waiting for my phone line to be connected QSG are finally back online. Played a few gigs since my last blog post and moved house, written new material and started work on the new album. Still as yet no title for the album but for now the monica "22 minutes of shite" is its affectionate working name. With a name like that it'll practically fly off the shelves I'm sure. Andy has been playing with the band more and more of late and we hope to get his guitar talents and vocals onto the new album in the very near future. More manjerine from Raoul is also on the cards along with the usual mix of folky strumming equipment from Ian's considerable beardy-weirdy arsenal.Watch this space for new tunes QSG xxx
The guys from QSG are all going thru various changes of late but this is never a bad thing. New material is being written/recorded and life experiences are fuelling the next songs as I type this. Will be taking up residence in the Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells next week where my musical journey will open a new chapter. Looking forward to the cafe culture and regular attendence of the grey lady music lounge to check out other acts and hopefully put in one of our live shows too. Watch this space guys and gals qsg xxx
I finally got my new mac based studio up and running, logic pro is loaded and we've strted laying down some new material!!!
It feels great to be writing again and both Ralph and myself are running the same music software so swapping files is now a doddle. Looks like Andy will be doing the same soon so we can record our new album in 3 different locations and bring it all togther for mixing etc.
So far we've had 2 sessions in the new studio and there are already 4 new songs in the pipeline and its all sounding amazing. Raoul has put some manjerine tracks down and the banjo has made a fighting comeback and is really lifting the sound.
We're also starting to book more gigs. We're playing twice at the wiremill pub in december, the second of which is new years eve so come along and celebrate the coming of 2012 with us and a few beers.
today saw the magic number of 1000 visits to the site which makes us smile. Been going only a few short months so we think that's pretty good going all round.
We've both had a little break recently to re-charge the batteries and hang out with family, friend and dogs (who we count as both really). The news is though...
New studio is being assembled with amazing speed and should be fully functional within a week all going well. This mean that Ian had new toys to play with which always leads to plenty of new ideas coming to life and certainly a few completed new songs will shortly follow. Really looking forward to getting my teeth into a new system and learning all its foibles!
We also have a few gigs in the pipeline and will be announcing the dates and venues real soon. Hoping that we can do these as a 3 or 4 piece band but time will tell.
Rehearsals tonight should be fun as its been a few weeks so we can blow the cobwebs of and dust down the old lyric sheets.
Keep a weather eye on our horizon for exciting new stuff in the coming weeks
