We spent today re-recording an old favourite in a rather different new version and shooting a video to go with it. We'll upload those when they're mixed and cut. Meanwhile, here's a little collage of the day... http://youtu.be/aEyM1eI-MAY

Playing live tonight

Had a good rehearsal yesterday for tonight's live show at the Birmingham Goth Festival. Really looking forward to meeting some old and new friends, playing many of the songs from the new album (and a couple of old favourites) and seeing Last July and Skeletal Family play live too. We hope to see you there at Eddie's Rock Club. Doors at 7.30pm, we're onstage at 9.00pm. https://www.facebook.com/groups/midlandsgothfest/

The sense of an ending...

I've just reviewed the 'to do' list for completing the album and there doesn't really seem that much left. There are a couple of big vocal sessions and a major drums/guitar combo to do but apart from that it seems like we might actually finish this. Andrew has just sent me a rough mix of 'Come As You Were' with a new strings/horn section on it that's so beautiful it actually brings tears to my eyes. I'm just really looking forward to putting some of this stuff out for people to hear. The next release should be the video and mix of 'Message Ends' which we're hoping to put up at the beginning of December. Keep watching; and 'hello!' to our new friends.

Today we rewrote the projected title track of the next album. It's the one we've been having such trouble recording over the past couple of years(!) We thought the issue was that the drum track wasn't right but increasingly I've been feeling that the song was the problem. It had a great riff and a killer middle eight...but I was coming to the conclusion that that's all it had. So we changed it. I haven't heard the rehearsal tapes but I think we've nailed it now, and it's changed completely. It's the same words, and some of the same notes (but not the same key), but now it's properly a song. I'm not sure if the title doesn't need to change but I guess we'll talk about that.
