Working in the Studio

The thing about trying record and mix an entire album by yourself is you can burn out pretty quickly in a mixing session after hearing and playing the songs for two months straight! -Is that guitar out tune or my ears freaking out!- After taking what I thought were final mixes to mastering we discovered some anomalies and mixing issues. uuggg… I was rushing to get done in time for the scheduled cd release date and missed some things…oops… Well, after a blow to the ego and a sagging lump in my heart, its time to go back at it to put the very last (and I mean it this time) touches on the mixes. This has been a great learning experience for me and this is the kind of work that I live for. Late night sessions and percussion ideas at the last minute can be both exhausting and exhilarating. (When you start to shake at 3 am and your eyes are itchy its probably time to hit save and call it a night). I hope you like what you hear in the end. We had a lot of fun making this record and breathing new life into some older songs. We will be posting a couple of new mixes here on Reverb Nation in just a few weeks. Stay tuned. and thanks for listening. peace, Charlie
