Year of release: 2011 Label: Capitol City Music Factory
For twelve years, Wayne Findlay, second guitarist and keyboardist in the Michael Schenker Group, and the followers of this band know him as a musician par excellence, with an enormous admiration for his boss without the proverbial problem playing second fiddle. Previously, Wayne as John Norum guitar technician, Jennifer Batten and played keys on Vinnie Moore's 1999 live album. His own first Dodge in 2007, Slavior, especially in Japan was very successful, and this band is a second CD in the making. In the meantime, however, not been idle and Findlay adds with No Sky Today a new chapter to his musical career.
In Paul Jones (Robot Lords Of Tokyo) he found a suitable text written tailor his music to complete, and with him, former Waysted drummer Scotty Phillips, ex-Quiet Riot bassist Kelly Garni and pianist Kelle Rhoads (yes, the brother of) the band recorded in Grove City, Ohio this album. Wayne kept with Joe Viers (bassist Robot Lords Of Tokyo and now bassist in this band) the clear production.
No Sky Today is a lot less technical than Slavior, the progressive metal of this company is refreshing and sometimes even melodic (Heavy Is The Debt, Escape). Tempo changes keep it exciting to listen to, and the band gives a very thorough and professional impression. Wayne and his freedom to get here once in a Dean to address and does so, listen to Break Up and you'll agree with me. The seventh string on his guitar creates the typical bulky and heavy sound and that sound is typical of the album.
Fans of heavy metal will this feast. Slavior, Findlay has just put on a back burner and is already busy writing material for half NST album. And while he is currently in the studio with Mr. Schenker is a new studio album to deliver. Busy guy who Wayne. But No Sky Today he scores points, this much is clear. The CD is available at various online shops and on the website of the band.
