Global Percussionist, Solo Artist, Sideman and Recording Artist Obi Kaye will lead a 2 day Drumming retreat/workshop at Saint Anne's Retreat October 18th an 19th. http://www.stanneschapel.com/ Saturday October 18th, from 10:00 am till 7:30 pm, will be "A day of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean rhythm for movement and dance". The day will be relaxed and informal beyond its structure. The day will broken down into 6 sessions; 4 hands‐on workshops and 2 lectures (Each session runs approximately 45‐50 minutes with plenty of time for breaks and will end with a public performance. Cost for Saturday will be $85.00 which includes a workbook, lunch and supper, and the evening performance. Sunday October 19th, from 9:00 am till noon, will be A guide to “Drumriding” or, playing rhythm for meditation, healing and prayer. Shamanic Drumming or, “Drumriding” is to take a journey through spirit using rhythm as a tool for meditation and healing. Based in a blend of Native American, South American, Far Eastern and even Pacific traditions, Shamanic drummers can be found all over the globe. This style of drumming is a form of both communication and release. Cost for Sunday is $40.00 per person Join Master Drummer, Recording and Performing Artist, Obi Kaye, for a Sunday morning excursion of rhythm and play and explore the spirit and nature of rhythm making. Participants will learn to play using the guidance of both Heartbeat and Pulse and will enjoy the opportunity to express themselves through emotion and spirit. This is a morning program, designed to be fun and relaxed in an atmosphere of sharing and peacefulness. All levels and all hand drums are welcome. Pre-register for both these events before October 13th and get the discounted price of $100.00.
