And they’ve got that gnarly sonic aural assault going on, that sounds like a busted chainsaw trying to cut through a solar eclipse. Stand-out tracks here are likely to be “Hallucination”, “Lunar Master”, and “Cosmic Rain.” But the whole thing pretty much shreds wild mule dung...this record is straight nasty blues-riff motorfuel for any fan of stuff that just flat-out rocks ass. “The influences I picked up from the album include Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Black Sabbath and Molly Hatchet. They even have some of that modern dirty Texas sound put out by bands such as Wo Fat, Split Hoof and Super Heavy Goat Ass. Forgive me if I missed a few but my point is this, Mothership take cues from some of music’s best, rolls it into a ball, puts it in an oven that’s been preset for 500 degrees and then unleashes the baked goods onto the unsuspecting world. This is one of those albums that you repeat many times, it’s one of your go to albums when you’re not sure what to listen to. In most albums I can find little things here and there that I didn’t care for or like but Mothership has nothing. I couldn’t find a damn thing wrong with this album. To me that says a lot. It’s the making of a strong future for the band. I highly recommend setting some “me time” for yourself, at least 45 minutes worth, indulge in your vice of choice and listen real good from start to”
