“Now this what I'm talkin' about! Some of the best stoner bands out there not only worship at the altar of the classic doom acts like Black Sabbath, Pentagram, and Saint Vitus, but also integrate all that is great about hard rockers like UFO, AC/DC, and Thin Lizzy as well as the Southern Rock legends such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackfoot, ZZ Top, and Molly Hatchet. Mothership is one such band, as this Dallas, Texas collective have unleashed a wonderful platter here of sweaty, groovy, and most importantly heavy rocking songs. This is footstompin', headbangin', fist pumpin', air guitar playin' stuff ladies and gentleman, and I dare anyone to not get their groove on.....Mothership have pushed all the right buttons for this listener, and one can only think that perhaps they've just scratched the surface here. More please! ”
“I feel like I’m having some weird out of body experience instigated by the awesome riff power of Mothership, crashing through the boundaries that hold the Universe together, heading for the inner dimension known as the rock-n-roll afterlife......These guys play heavy rock in its purest, finest form, huge riffs, a pounding, head crushing rhythm section and songs that you’ll be singing along to all day and every day. All hail the metal; it’s time to board the Mothership…”
“First thing’s first. This album must be played LOUD. The guitars here are loud as shit. And they’ve got that gnarly sonic aural assault going on, that sounds like a busted chainsaw trying to cut through a solar eclipse. Stand-out tracks here are likely to be “Hallucination”, “Lunar Master”, and “Cosmic Rain.” But the whole thing pretty much shreds wild mule dung...this record is straight nasty blues-riff motorfuel for any fan of stuff that just flat-out rocks ass. FOR FANS OF: DANZIG, BAD WIZARD, AC/DC, VALIENT THORR, NASHVILLE PUSSY, NEBULA, SKYNYRD, RED FANG, stoner rock, wicked blues riffs, wicked loud guitars, mad wicked guitar solos.”
“The influences I picked up from the album include Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Black Sabbath and Molly Hatchet. They even have some of that modern dirty Texas sound put out by bands such as Wo Fat, Split Hoof and Super Heavy Goat Ass. Forgive me if I missed a few but my point is this, Mothership take cues from some of music’s best, rolls it into a ball, puts it in an oven that’s been preset for 500 degrees and then unleashes the baked goods onto the unsuspecting world. This is one of those albums that you repeat many times, it’s one of your go to albums when you’re not sure what to listen to. In most albums I can find little things here and there that I didn’t care for or like but Mothership has nothing. I couldn’t find a damn thing wrong with this album. To me that says a lot. It’s the making of a strong future for the band. I highly recommend setting some “me time” for yourself, at least 45 minutes worth, indulge in your vice of choice and listen real good from start to”
“This Dallas three piece may just be one of Texas' best kept secrets. Sharing similarities with fellow statesmen, The Sword, these guys bring it with tight, melodic, groove-based retro-sounding hard rock. Mothership is the soundtrack for being out for the evening behind the wheel of a '77 Trans Am (Firebird on the hood optional) with a half-pint of Jack in your back pocket, your trunk full of ice cold cans of beer and your buddies piled in the car....A must hear album for 2012.”
“Just when you think rock and roll is dead, along comes a band that will knock your socks off and hurl your ass to the back of the bus. Welcome aboard the Mothership! This three-piece, hard driving band out of Dallas, Texas has recaptured a sound previously watered down by time and through technology. With their self-titled CD available now, this trio of hard rocking musicians have recaptured the era of the guitar driven '70s in all its rock glory. Rock and roll is alive and kicking in the Lone Star state once again.”
“Just give me a beer, light me a cig and start the engines of this ship cause I feel on the top of the world right now! Rock lives and lives hard with the Texas based extreme trio Mothership combining ancient souls of 70´s heavy rock with fiery, clever, fresh and tasteful solos that will rip your head off........ “Mothership” is an eight-track album that does justice to bands like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, ZZ Top, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, in fact not only does justice but also gives to the listener a new experience with a futuristic sound brought in the ship by the outer space to delight your deepest desires of binding new with old. This massive work exteriorizes catchy hard riffing, insane solos of the NWOBHM-era, powerful drumming and imposing lyrics that are waiting for you to join the flight! You can´t miss it!”
“It only takes but a few songs to realize Mothership shatters expectations laid down by the three-song Eagle Soars demo the band released last year, and now that the power trio’s rough-spun biker boogie has sprouted plenty more hairs on its barrel chest, they’re sportin’ the kind of boss ‘tude it takes to screw your wife and sell you a t-shirt in the same night.......there’s all sorts of tasty red heat emanating off of this one, so watch you don’t burn that big burly beard of yours trying to lick the flames.”
“You will know Mothership by the total eclipse of everything that ever bored you. You'll forget all about the doldrums of Earthly woes...Blast off!”
“This band flat out rocked it, no ifs, ands, or buts about it....they have several shows coming up, if any of those places are near you, make plans now to see them!”
“One of the best things going in D/FW right now”
“Try to resist a band that plays blues-laden metal with heavy guitar riffs that is also hoping for intergalactic travel....If this is the soundtrack of the Mothership, beam me aboard. ”
