Molly's music career began a looooooooooooooooong time ago. Okay, maybe not THAT long, but starting out, she was obsessed with jazz and played alto and tenor sax in jazz bands since Junior High school days. Then, realizing perhaps she would not be the next John Coltrane, she discovered guitar, her sister's LP collection of rock bands and soul jams, and began writing her own songs. After some academic college stuff, she moved to Boston and did the folk circuit long enough to realize she didn't really like the sound of acoustic guitar and female voice combined, and with help of friends, discovered SG's and Marshalls, and saw pretty much every British rock band that came to our shores in Boston in the early '90's. (Yup.)
So then, Atlanta Georgia, a place Molly never considered as a music hub, became her home for ten years, as she moved there to form LIFT, a critically acclaimed alternative rock band with influences of Radiohead and the Spinanes, to Sarah McLachlan and Walt Mink. (Look 'em up! They rock.) As her lust for big guitars and alt-rock were declining, Molly took a shine to dance music, not really understanding the difference in terminology (trance, techno, grime, house, etc. sorry!) she just loved the music. Being a HUGE Depeche Mode fan (Music for the Masses...), she heard a Gabriel and Dresden remix of "Here is the House." It was a life changing moment, although she had no clue.
Pretty soon she worked with G&D on a collaboration that led to "tracking treasure down" - a Billboard 1 hit- and other tracks on their gorgeous artist album. More dance music collabs followed. (Phynn, Loverush UK, John Shelvin, Morgan Page, Gianluca Motta...) However, during this time, Molly moved a bit, did some grad school, took a break it seems, but then suddenly pulled out the guitar and started writing songs again - that combine some of the rock blasts of her past, along with the ethereal soundscapes of bands she's loved, and a definite plunge into dance beats, (although they never quite sound the way that the DJs make them sound, and she's OK with that). In any case, this is what's going on now: new music. new shows. possibly a new band, too.
