Bio

Marmite & The One Man Orchestra crashed in december 2005 on the border between Kreuzberg and Neukoelln (berlin). It was one of these permanent nights, debating, smoking, soaking vodka, humming or drumming on the bar, right where the orchestra used to serve drinks & smooth mooded fusic, say „smoozik“.

MARMITE & THE ONE MAN ORCHESTRA

It´s a mobile of past and contemporary soundpieces, trying to equilibrate some very common, but also way too personal feelings, journeys and experiences from where we came from to the city of berlin here and today. always reaching out for a little bit much more, because you know, that there is nothing to fear!

„... and always at the beginning, there´s funk and strange occurences!“

„...Yes! Tonight we are slaves to no one – except the rythm!“ (apu)

leaving some roots behind – redefinition in brick city:

Mrs. Marmite said she would sing the songs herself – when a millions of sounds had utterly vanished – how strange it was! coming from the former eastern germany, Marmite played with various musicians and bands, mostly guitar-based music. Nevertheless, her voice and style of singing is more influenced by female singers like beth gibbons, fiona apple, björk, tori amos or feist. Never stops playing, humming, lalalaing and doing a little bit much more ...

having played in politcal hiphop/rap projects (http://www.myspace.com/systematicbacklash) in Bremen before, The One Man Orchestra was looking out for new band projects in berlin. It did not take long to meet the astounding Mrs. Marmite. Call it mere chance, or say he knew a friend of a friend, who told... whatsoever, some boxes full of sound carriers, some semi-legal musicsoftware, his past commitment in various post-punk-rock-elektro-beats-hiphop-rap bands and the tendency to steal from the best, made him to reinvent the wheel: boom tak rik tiktik zzzzt...

„... you understand, that there is nothing to fear!“ (i.asimov)

Their first self-produced CD „forensics“ was released in september 2007, containing 10 tracks (including two instrumentals) and over 40 minutes of sound! An audible tympanic membrane lotion! But all along the recording and rehearsing sessions in Marmites living room the conviction grew that this has to be played live! So, watch out! This is only the beginning.

Stay cute, stay rebel!!!
