“Many people, I think, are conditioned to only like jingly hooks and music as background. Man Eating Tiger is not that kind of band. Instead of a repetitive hook, Man Eating Tiger bears its metal claws, to rip away the curtain of mediocrity that numbs people; desensitizing them to a point where many, may no longer want to hear something truly new or "cutting edge". Many choose to stay in their comfort zones, staying where they are, instead of trying something new, when it comes to this high powered music that they may not understand. Man Eating Tiger sometimes screams this message, through a megaphone, during performance. Maybe someone should listen to the music, and read the lyrics, before judging. Whether they're singing about the duality of inner conflict, or making allusion to "Casting pearls before swine," Man Eating Tiger is the real deal, with metal claws.”

Q: How did you come up with "Mitosis" for the album title?
A: We decided on Mitosis, after the band had separated and then reformed with guitarist Jason Emerick. We also like to think of each track on the album as a "division" because of the variance of textures between the songs. Here is a direct qoute from Emerick regarding the title "I was thinking that this album, according to Robb mostly about break-ups and divisions. I had this small idea about what Cave-in did on an old EP along with Failure on Fantastic Planet and what Dredg does on all of their albums. I thought an interesting title name might be METOSIS. This is an intentional misspelling of mitosis, the simple process of cell division we all learned about in science class back in the 5th grade. The basic idea behind this being that it takes division in order to create something new and better. In order to create this band we have all had to make sacrifices. I won't embellish here, but if this sounds remotely possible as an album title we can talk about it further. The misspelling is because Man Eating Tiger's acronym MET conveniently fits. I have 5 interludes quasi-written, all tentatively titled by the 5 phases of mitosis. I am sending them right after this email." Thanks for asking! Jason Simpson - Man Eating Tiger
