This show will run Oct. 9th-11th and Oct. 16th-18th Play Synopsis: God's Country. is an intimate look inside the mind and soul of one of the nation's most talented poets. Michelle Antoinette Nelson (aka LOVE the poet) explores what it means to be a human being in America (one nation under God), the challenges faced from society, and especially elements of the Christian church. Set in a Wednesday night bible study she will take on eight different voices: a teen mother with HIV, an urban teenage drug dealer, a husband on the down low, a poetic narrator, a blind gay church musician, a lesbian jaded by the church's hypocrisy, a new and over zealous female pastor, a redneck racist whose wife shot him for abusing her, and the ninth voice is yours. Each character, in what is Michelle's first original play, is searching for the God in themselves through the eyes of everyone else, searching for an interpretation of "the word" that makes sense in their lives, searching for the answer to this question, "If this is God's country, where the hell is God?"
