About
Jamie hails from the great state of Wisconsin – home of cheese, snow, polka, and yes, da Pack! With a BA in International Political Economics and an MS in Broadcast Journalism, Jamie’s logical career endeavor was to travel the world playing piano! The opportunity to follow her dream arrived as an emergency opening for a keyboard player in a cruise ship show-band two weeks after finishing her Masters.
Predominantly self-taught, Jamie was thrilled and humbled to be thrown headfirst into her soul calling. And through hard work and determination, she is living and loving her dream of playing music professionally.
Cruise travel (painful, of course) wooed Jamie to play jazz and cabaret around coastal South America, Dixieland in the Med, and your gramma's greatest hits in the hippest cosmopolitan ports of Scandinavia. Her land work includes playing in cover and big bands in British Columbia and high-end corporate work in the most renowned pop cover band in Boston- Joey Scott & The Connection (www.joeyscott.com). And she will always frolic in theater pits, small group and solo entertainment wherever she plants- that being subject to change when the snow starts to blow horizontally.
Jamie considers herself very blessed to dabble in composition, which led to scholarship work at Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2007. A life love affair with the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim inspired Jamie to adopt Brazil's rich musical influences into her works. She has made many journeys to this magical land as a missionary, English teacher, and musician.
Jamie is currently back in homeland Wisconsin recording and freelancing local piano lounges, private parties, weddings, and festivals. She has also taken residence in Fat Brass Inc. and Bay City Swing whilst meandering with the baby chicks in her back yard. Be on the look out for her new album "Dark Honey" which is now available for download on iTunes, Amazon, Lala, CD Baby, and a smattering of other digital distributors. And if you're passing through Fukuoka, Japan in July and August, stop by the Grand Hyatt to request a few numbers! Jamie is grateful to the outstanding musicians and entertainers who have guided her through a spectacular journey and is electrified to take her art to the rest of the planet.
These few melodies here represent fleeting moments of a very blessed and fascinating road. A big thanks goes out to Marc Golde at Rock Garden Studios in Appleton, WI; Marcio Lyra at Copacabana Studio in Rio de Janeiro; and DP guru Peter Creasey, for their superb engineering. And also a huge thumbs up to the fabulous musicians who contributed to these recordings over the past few years, and an uber-high-five to Alex Moraes, Aluizio Veras, and Amaro Junior for the new Rio specials. ALL YOU GUYS ROCK!!
