In Itself / Press

“From Christopher Hodge: In Itself could be best described as an angst ridden teen; going from ambivalent, to joyful, to sad, and back again in the blink of an eye or the width of a song. Their pop sensibilities and song structures are reminiscent of bands like The Clash and The Cure but are carried along by stronger legs of bands like Quicksand or Nirvana. They have been called moody, melodic, powerful, and sincere in the same paragraph and seem to appeal to more than just the current hipster youth with their broad fanbase. To fully encompass the width of their sound would be to say it is a train wreck between 80's synth pop vocally, 90's post hardcore with guitars, and late 90's post-punk rhythms.”
