Hellbros / Press

"Right from the very first track, the hammer comes down in a merciless way. 36 minutes of kick ass Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and even Blues Rock reign supreme across the entire runtime. Hellbros like to deliver their stuff loud, wild and heavy, excellent stuff as you’d like to point your bucket of beer to the sky while screaming and shouting alongside brothers and sisters during a nightly wild party"

“Bad Reputation [Release date 02.10.15] The self-titled sophomore effort from Canadian four piece Hellbros is the kind of album that will never know the feel of the fast forward button. Big, brash, raw and in your face, I recommend you stop what you are doing and go and get yourself a copy right away (OK, finish reading this first). Melodic, yet heavy this well written style of rock is not easy to pigeon hole – good, us Brits are far too quick off the mark when it comes to that- but if you head somewhere in the region of a slightly heavier Los Bastardos Finlandeses then you will not be too far off. The band are comprised of brothers Peter and Christian Jurt on vocals/guitar and guitar respectively, alongside their childhood friends Josh Roy on drums and Mat Colins on bass and having grown up together makes them one of those rare bands that really can create something special having been around each other so long.”

“On their debut Goodtime Machine, as its title suggests, the intentions of Ottawa’s Hellbros couldn’t be clearer: Have one hell of a good time and create all the while some of the most fist-pumping music the Capital has ever heard. Without ever sounding like a bad cover band, Hellbros cover all the rock ‘n’ roll bases, from the "hey-hey" chorus on the catchy Trespassing by Night, which brings to mind a coked-up Bon Jovi, to the inventive Dead City Rockers, which recalls Johnny Cash, ZZ Top and Andrew W.K., all in less than 180 seconds. Built on riffs bigger than Scotia Bank Place, most of this Machine is made of tight, vigilantly conceived, extremely well-produced, straight-up headbanger hymns. It’s in their most bizarre moments, though, as on the menacing Tombstone, that the obvious musicianship of the quartet shines the most.”

"The Canadian based Hellbros fell on my radar when I noticed that they were scheduled to play at the Bovine Sex Club in Toronto last month. When I went to check the band out online I found their Goodtime Machine album was available for download free of charge! There are very few bands giving their music away for free, but Hellbros have apparently done so for presumably quite awhile -- since the band is shooting for one million downloads of Goodtime Machine at www.rocktoamillion.com. If you like non-stop, loud, belligerent, uncomplicated rock 'n' roll with lots of attitude, Hellbros' Goodtime Machine will most likely fill that need.

“now that's how you do rock & roll!”
