Q: I really want to write some songs but have no idea what I want to write them about. Can you give me some advice?
A: Hi Rowdy! Thanks for asking! It was great to meet you in Lake Whitney. :) If I'm having trouble figuring out what to say in a song, I usually sit down and write a stream-of-consciousness passage. I either sit down at a computer or sit down with paper and pen and just write whatever comes to mind. It doesn't have to be organized or even well thought-out; it just has to be honest. I like to give myself ten minutes to get everything out, then I see if there are any good lines in what I've written. I hope that helps! Happy songwriting!
