“Pulsing, droning industrial - tinged darkwave>>" Earthgoat have produced some nice, somewhat twisted darkwave here on Sex and Blood, with just a hint of industrial. The pulsing, hypnotic, synthesizer drenched tunes are generally more broody than danceable, sounding at times like some of the more laid back and obscure Depeche Mode and early Nine Inch Nails tracks. Lead vocalist Corman ventures at times a little too far into Reznor territory with his phrasing, but overall the understated singing is strong, snaking in between the droning rhythms and drum loops in an agreeably integral fashion. The album's penultimate track, a rather rocking cover of David Bowie's Scary monsters (& super creeps), sticks out like a sore thumb from the rest of Sex and Blood with its upbeat rhythms and more organic guitars and drums but hey, it's a good cover and effectively adds a bit of contrast to the album's prevailing drone. A good release all round."”
