“Bonnie Dickson/Senior Scene April 28 was a rainy, overcast day but inside Pt. Defiance Village, Mary La Fleur from Grand Departures Funeral Services handed out chocolates and Doug Deems was singing “Crazy.” La Fleur helps sponsor Deems’ show. At the first note from Deems’ guitar, the audience of four grew and grew until several rows of chairs had been pulled up and filled with people swaying and tapping and a few souls quietly singing…quietly remembering. Deems performed his one-man show Frolictunery. His play list included “Don’t Fence Me In,” “Yes! We Have No Bananas” and “Has Anybody Seen My Gal?” Although he plays and enjoys music from other decades, he prefers the hits from the 1920s and 1930s.
