Cowgirls Dream, a Tacoma western swing/Americana band will be at the Hal Holmes Community Center at 209 North Ruby Street in Ellensburg, Washington starting at 7:30 pm on February 15th. The location is adjacent to the library building, at the corner of 4th and Ruby. For more information call (253)573 1504 or visit website www.cowgirlsdream.info. Starting with the time-worn tradition of western swing music, the Tacoma-based band was created with the debut of Kristi Nebel's album, DETOUR. Kristi brings her years of love in performing this music to her lead singing, with back-up harmonies and a few original songs from Steve Nebel. Toby Hanson, accordionist lends his skills in arranging tunes as well as playing them. His background as the young founder of the Smiling Scandinavians band, brings his musical expertise from studies at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. Years of local dance drumming experience come from Tacoman Mike Friel. Rounding out the sound are the rhythm and lead guitar and bass of Steve Nebel and Kristi Nebel have performed all over the Pacific Northwest for the past 25 odd years as Pressure Ridge. Listeners and dancers in Ellensburg are familiar with their sounds as Pressure Ridge, a band that has played in fraternal organizations here as well as in Cle Elum and Roslyn. The songs the band play have been familiar to country dancers for three generations of Americans from sea to shining sea. As well, the group lends some self-penned Americana songs to the mix. The band has been seen in Ellensburg last July at the Gourd Festival and will be returning to perform at it for their third year this coming summer.
