Bio
Cindy Pruitt is an indie pop artist and musician based in Houston. She has been a founding member of the Houston bands Karma, Zbogum, The Vulvamatics and currently is a member of Fluff the Kat and Guilty Pleasure. When she is not performing with one of her projects or solo she stays busy as an engineer at her studio Smiley Face Records. Her solo shows are a little livelier than you’d expect at most “singer/songwriter” events. Incorporating a loop station and various effects pedals she creates a lush sound as a “one-woman” show. Figure it Out has also received radio play on KPFT in Houston and KVRX in Austin. She performed solo at the 2008 Houston Pride Festival.
About
Cindy Pruitt is no angst-er poseur.
“There are just certain songs that say, ‘Give me a razor blade now,’” Cindy laughs. “Even my most depressing songs won’t make you feel like that.” After hearing her positive, tongue-in-cheek lyrics and ’60s-riffing guitars, you won’t need to become a member of Prozac nation to get into her pop-rock music.
Listen to her CD, Songs From Inside The Bubble, and you’ll hear the psychedelic influences of the music from the Haight-Asbury district and the Filmore West. Throughout Inside The Bubble, you’ll be treated to lush layers of her Fender Strat and Ovation in keeping with her fondness for the “wall of sound” style.
