About

Hi There!  My name is Cathey J. Johnson.  Thanks for taking the time to listen to my songs!  I am in the process of writing more great songs, and I plan on having them done sometime this year. I was born in Portland, Oregon, and when I was 12 years old, my family and I moved to a suburb called Gresham, Oregon.  I moved to Northeast Ohio in 1980, and I've lived here since then.   I am the fourth of six children, and I have been singing since I was a very young girl, about 5 years old.  My siblings and I often performed "shows" for guests that would come to our house, and we loved it, and so did our guests.  As we got older, my sisters and I sang in church, often by request.  My youngest sister and oldest sister played the rhythm guitar as we sang.  I was in choir, both at church and in school, from the time I was 6 years old, until I graduated from high school, and in my adult years as well.  I was often selected to perform the solos at choir concerts.  I knew from a very young age that I was born to perform music!  My mom used to tell me that I was born with a microphone in my hand!  I started writing poems when I was about 13 years old, and I learned how to convert my poems to songs in my early 20's.  I am a very passionate and romantic person, so my songs are based on my own personal experiences, or that of someone close to me.  I write about love, heartaches and inspiration.  All of my songs come straight from my heart and soul, and I sing them with passion so that everyone who listens to them feels like I am singing my songs directly to them.  I grew up on Country music.  I adored listening to my parent's Country albums.  They had all of Johnny Cash's albums, along with various other Country singers.  When I was about 13, I started listening to the Osmonds, and I absolutely fell in love with this family, because of their obvious family closeness and strong religious beliefs.  I also loved their music, of course.  Though they were not the same religion as myself, we shared many of the same Christian values and beliefs.  The Osmonds were not only my role models in music, but in family and religious values.  I still adore them, because they are wonderful people.  A couple of my other earlier music role models were Linda Ronstadt , Olivia Newton John and the Carpenters.  I still enjoy singing their songs.  I love all styles of music, but my best style for me personally are Country/Pop and Country/Christian.  I recorded an album in 2004 at CMC Music, all pre-recorded songs, and I have been working on completing more of my own originals to put on a new album that I plan on recording this year.  I have competed in several singing competitions, and I've performed concerts in churches, at fairs and for banquets.  I have also performed twice in Nashville, on a local talent show on T.V., which was by invitation only.  I was also in a community Christian choir for several years in the 1980's.  This choir performed several shows with a live orchestra at the Palace Theater in Canton, Ohio. That was a great experience! My favorite thing to do is perform with a live band.  Some of my other interests include writing romance novels and short-stories, poems and books.  My first  love and passion, of course, and my reason for who I am, is Jesus.  My second passion is writing songs and singing.  I ADORE performing, and meeting new people and making friends!  So sign up to be a fan, and I will gladly answer all as quickly as I possibly can.  Let me know what you think of my songs and style, and keep me in your prayers, and of course I will do the same for you! Peace, love and joy to you all.  Remember this, "WHETHER YOU SAY YOU CAN OR CAN'T....YOU'RE RIGHT"!!  If you have a dream, NEVER give up on it!  Go for it, give it your best shot!!  My dream is to make a significant difference in this world, with my music and with my testimony and writings.  I want to touch as many people's lives as posible while I am here on earth, and I KNOW I will do that, with God's help!
