After the members of his band "Soul Combustion" parted ways, Justin Campbell (guitar) began jamming with his brother Micah (drums) in their garage in Keller, Texas. "Soul Combustion" had enjoyed some success with two independent albums, two radio interviews on 89.7 Power FM, and radio play of several of their songs. Following the band's demise, the Campbell brothers began shaping what would become their next project - Table 9. Soon, the brothers rounded out the instrumental portion of the band by recruiting Chandler Robinson on bass. After a trip to the studio and several shows later, Chandler left the band to attend school. In early 2006, Justin and Micah began playing with John Laird (bass), and the band continued playing shows as a trio under the name Three Fingered Fist. After one or two shows, they changed the name officialy to PERU. In mid-2009 Glen Tadlock joined the band as an additional guitarist.
March 2010 saw the release of PERU's first full length album "Tractor Beam" which can be found on iTunes, Amazon.com, Rhapsody and can be purchased at their shows.
Glen Tadlock helped PERU reach new levels of creativity and contributed to the songs on the album Tractor Beam but left the band to pursue other interests in mid-2010. Not wanting to return to being a trio, John moved to guitar and brought in his little brother Matt Laird (who isn't so 'little' - he's 6'7") to take up the bass.
PERU is currently working on new material for their next release and hopes to head back into the studio by the end of 2011
