What is Mix*Hop?
Aquavibe is the answer. Hip-hop, R&B, rock, soul and dance fused together into one original sound performed by five men committed to The Groovement. Aquavibe tends to appeal to listeners of a wide variety of styles and yet somehow manages not to compromise, transcending popular trends by refusing to sacrifice originality. So much more than a wack rapper with a backing track, this is where the heart of hip-hop and the soul of rock 'n roll come together. This is live original music. This is something new. This is a spectacle. Don't look away.
What is Mix*Hop? is also the new release from Aquavibe, released in December 2011 to huge critical acclaim. Engineered by Grammy-award winning engineer, Ed Reed, Aquavibe has put together a collection of remastered hits and new, instant classics. The lead single "What Up Kid" is a brand new track with a throwback feel, blending fresh hip-hop beats with live instruments and turntablism - this high-energy, head-bopper will definitely get the party started.
Aquavibe has performed at many well-known venues including The Knitting Factory, Coney Island, Pianos, Southpaw, Nuyorican Poets' Cafe, CBGB's, Caroline's Comedy Club in Times Square and a little place you might have heard of called the Playboy Mansion. That's right - not only did we rock the mansion in person but we have three songs on the soundtrack to the Playboy Mansion video game and appear as characters in the game! We have collaborated with ITF 2000 Western Hemisphere Scratch Champion DJ Excess. D1 produces all Aquavibe music and has composed commercial music for the likes of ESPN, Samuel Adams and Victoria's Secret. DyVerse acts alongside Jeffrey Wright and Zoe Saldana in the acclaimed indy film “Blackout” currently making waves on the festival circuit. Paradox did voices for the Kryptyx/Media World animated educational program “Gross Out” and yeah, it's pretty damn gross. The members of Aquavibe are as diverse as the music and our varied talents and interests are making it possible for us to come at the music business from all angles simultaneously.
