Take a dash of R&B, a twist of thugged-out jazz, add a pinch of East Coast style, to a 1/4lb of West Coast certified game, heat rapidly, let it bubble, and you have the makings of Fonk Rockwell.
With a roots deeply entrenched in Rap/R&B/JAZZ/Latin, Rockwell drew his inspiration from a horde of iconic influences including Dj Quik,Ice Cube, E-40 & TuPac, to Quincy Jones, Babyface, & Tony,Toni, Tone. When asked what was the inspiration for his current CD, Fonk explains,
“I wanted this album to have a little somethin’ for everybody to groove to, it’s underground gutter… but not raunchy... smooth, while still keepin’ its hood appeal… it has some club cuts, a little party music, a bit of urban awareness… just a lot of different cuts for ya’ll to vibe to.”
True to its nature, Fonk Rockwell's forthcoming album, “Creative Destruction” is a canvas of styles, designed exclusively for hittin' the block, giggin in the club, or just somethin' to ride to.
