M Terrel / Bio

Singing since he was 5, M. Terrel always knew that music was going to be a part of his life forever. He grew up singing in church and then began his career as professional vocalist as a member of the Chicago based gospel choir, Ricky Dillard's New Generation Chorale, at the age 16. While with “New G” he would record two albums “The Promise” and “Holy Ghost Takeover”. M moved to LA and worked with producers like: Jon-John Robinson (TLC), Alan "Bird" Tatum (R. Kelly), Steve Kipner (Kelly Rowland), Robert Palmer (Changing Faces), Rhett Lawrence (Mariah Carey) and Korean producer Saylor Shin. Working with Saylor introduced him a skill he didn’t know he had and that was “phonetic singing”. M. Terrel sang all the backgrounds in Korean and from what Saylor says “…he pronounces and sings in our language better than a great deal of our own artists”. In 1997 he produced and was the featured vocalist on the single "About Last Night" for Gerald Albright's, Atlantic Records release, "Live To Love" under his production company, Cymphani Music. After a couple of years in LA, he moved back home to Chicago. Once there he began to work with Chicago native, Platinum producer/re-mixer/Grammy nominee, Eric "E-Smoove" Miller who had this to say about him "M.Terrel is an amazing writer and producer with an extraordinary vocal gift." With the great chemistry they had, they went on to create dance music records like "Baby Gets Hi", "I Hear Music", "Touch The Sky" and several others. In 2002, he became a member of the Chicago-based smooth jazz group, Bass X and wrote, arranged and co-produced three of the ten songs for the group’s second record, "Heirwave". Also to his credit are the independent films "Player in Training" and “All About The Ring”. He’s sung backgrounds for various major artists and on other soundtracks. He’s currently featured alongside Snoop Dogg on the new HIT single "Cali Livin'" by Radio Traffic, the newest artist signed to Next Plateau Entertainment. "Cali Livin" is available NOW on iTunes!!!
