Abby has been singing publicly since the age of 5. Her very first public performance was
for her first voice recital in Irving Texas. From that time on, she sang and performed at
every opportunity she got. When she was in the 1st grade of school, she sang at the
school's talent show for a crowd of 200 people. The song she sang for that show was,
"Crazy", by Patsy Cline, receiving a standing ovation. She also sang and danced to an old
standard tune called, "Goody Goody". Every year after that, she performed for every
school talent show, as well as ,all public talent contests and shows. When Abby was in the
5th grade, she sang and performed at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, and at
Universal Studios in Florida. Abby has also been a big part of the show choir during
elementary, middle school, high school, and during her years at college. She was in the Top
10 for The Miss VU pageant at Vincennes University for 2 consecutive years.
Abby has also sang and performed at several Opry houses,
always being backed up by numerous bands. Abby's Father, Larry Velez , a musician himself,
has backed up Abby in several shows throughout her career. Abby has traveled numerously to
Nashville, TN. performing there at every opportunity that came her way. Places such as, World
Famous Wildhorse Saloon, The Nashville Palace, Tootsie's, and Gaylord Entertainment Center. Abby has won many talent competitions all over was recently the 1st place winner at the Karaoke USA Nationals in Ohio in July 2010, top 3 finalists in the 2011 Indiana Texaco Country Showdown. Her song, "Love Wins," has been played on 106.3 True Country all summer long. She has also recently opened up for Montgomery Gentry this past Labor Day weekend at the Crystal Palace in Pontiac, IL.
While in Nashville, Abby has worked with vocal coach, Renee Grant-Williams, whose client's
include a list of artists such as, Martina McBride, Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw,
Christina Aguilera, and Carrie Underwood, just to name a few.
However, Abby still can't get enough of singing herself.
