King Friday is: Alex Folkerth (producer, multi-instrumentalist, co-songwriter) and Matt Sweeney (sometimes instrumentalist and singer-songwriter) with multi-instrumentalist Bo Sagal. They owe their band name to the benevolent King of "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood."
We are influenced by and sound like a smattering of these rock/pop/psychedelic groups, mostly from the 60's and 90's:
The Beatles, The Doors, The Who, The Kinks, The Stone Roses, Oasis, Blur, Dr. Dog, Paul Simon, Big Star, Crosby Stills and Nash, David Bowie, Cat Stevens, The Move, Tomorrow, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Supergrass, Kula Shaker, Spirit, Pink Floyd, The Pretty Things, The Shins, The Small Faces, The Smiths, The Clash, The Strokes, Love, Libertines, Led Zeppelin, Lemonheads, The Replacements, and The Zombies to name a few.
We completed our debut album "Enter The King" this spring. It was recorded at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington.
King Friday is currently accepting scorching criticism, rave reviews, and your money.
The first single from "Heavy Lies The Crown," entitled "Relative Luxury/Grand Old Face" is complete. The full length album is pending release shortly.
