Austin lead-guitar player/singer Gary Anderson has been playing lead guitar, singing and songwriting since he was 13. He has taught private students of all ages and levels throughout his career and holds degrees in commercial music and electronics from McClennan Community College and Temple College. He has taught Rock Lead Guitar at The University of Texas at Austin’s Informal Classes for several years and has taught guitar for after-school classes through Round Rock ISD.
Gary currently plays lead guitar and sings at Austin area venues with Scott Olsen, drums, and Mikel Arclight, bass, in the Gary Anderson Band. Gary has played professionally with Texas bands for more than 40 years. He has specialized in diverse genres at various points in his career, including rock & roll, blues & jazz, funk, and country. Over the years, Gary has developed a unique voice, guitar tone and style of playing that audiences return to hear. In the past decade, Gary’s song, “One Million People,” which he wrote when he was 16 and recorded with his band, Kandy Kolored Konspiracy, has become a 60’s punk rock garage band underground hit, appearing on several compilation CD’s out of Australia, Germany and the United States and played in rotation on underground radio stations worldwide.
