Originally based out of Thornhill, Ontario, Time Tree (formerly known as Synergy) is an instrumental progressive rock trio officially formed during the latter half of 2008. Justin Dobbs (drums) and Jordan Bean (guitar) were neighbours who began playing music together in their early teenage years.
The two started out playing cover songs of their favourite bands at the time; allowing them to develop a chemistry. This would eventually lead to them putting their heads together to create some songs of their own. In 2007, Evan Grinbergs (bass), who knew Justin and Jordan from high school, was enthusiastic about what the two were working on after hearing some recordings and was invited to come for a jam.
By the summer of 2008, Jordan and Evan began jamming regularly while Justin was out of town. The two were able to develop some chemistry and began composing together. When Justin came back later that summer, the three started to play together regularly and the song writing process took off from there. This trio would soon discover what the sum of their combined efforts could yield.
The three soon became consumed with frequent and lengthy writing/practice sessions, allowing them to push their musical limitations and to gel with each other as a unit. They began playing shows in various Toronto venues by early 2009, while continuing to write new songs and build on existing ones.
Time Tree’s first album “Solstice” featuring some of the bands their earliest songs, is coming soon!
