I, Sasha Bonn, will never forget the day when I met Amber Doll. It happened at Subway. She became my co-worker at the end of 2011.
After much time had passed, I asked her if she wanted to create something that would change music as a whole! She said, “Yes,” and Winter’s Flight was born. In December, 2012 we covered Radiohead’s Karma Police at the Gypsy Den. People were excited listening to us, some even recording our performance on their smartphones! This attention inspired us to work more because we felt that we had something good going.
We began to write our first EP-album at the end of 2012. The idea behind it was to create a very simple and clear story which would relate and detail important issues. It would touch people’s political ideologies and feelings. We wanted to picture an alternative view of these problems. Heroes might not be heroes, and people that are different might want to be free and not blamed. There’s always another side to the coin behind everything, and that is what we wanted to show in our first EP; we wanted our listeners to understand that even if they had their own opinions, they might not be the only ones that are right.
Winter’s Flight is a band that has huge goals. The first EP that got the name “A Place Where Memories Fade” is just a beginning of a journey; it is a prologue of the story that will be told to our listeners. We are planning to play in coffee shops in the Orange, Los Angeles, and San Diego counties in order to make people familiar with our repertoire. These four songs are just a start, and we have got many more ideas about what we will tell next. It will be amazing! You have never seen something like this before, and we hope that we will make our dark story much brighter because the ray of light should lighten the shades of fear that people have sometimes.
Noir music is a totally new genre and we are glad to be some of its pioneers. This style is not just about what people will hear, but it is about what they will see as well. Noir is a picture that is filled with emotions, music, and great stories.
The story is just starting, and we really hope that this way will give a lot of experience to our listeners and to us. Let the winter start!
